Rogel is happily married to Ivy Bautista, also a member of JEG . He and Ivy live in Branchburg, New Jersey and have two grown-up sons, Lawrence (married to Kerry), and Jaron. As of this writing, Rogel and Ivy are excitedly awaiting the birth of their very first grandchild.
Rogel is an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Somerville, NJ where he is currently involved in the parish’s New Evangelization Council and as an advisor to the Filipino-American Association of Immaculate Conception, a cultural and religious organization that aims to promote Filipino religious practices in the parish. He spearheaded the Life in the Spirit Seminars (LSS) in the parish, which led to the formation of the parish Charismatic Prayer Group.
Rogel is also an active member of the Sto. Niño Prayer Group in St. Anne Parish in Raritan, NJ, a group that propagates devotion to the Child Jesus, under the banner of the Diocese of Metuchen Filipino Apostolate.
Rogel is involved in the Somerset County, NJ area as well through the Somerville Metro Lions Club, which he co-formed in 2007 under the umbrella of Lions Clubs International, a global service organization. Rogel has held various club and district leadership positions through the years. As a Lion, Rogel has been involved in charity work and service initiatives especially in the areas of feeding the hungry, youth education and engagement, environmental protection, vision and hearing assistance, and assistance to calamity victims.
Attending the KFI Marriage Encounter in 2006 with his wife Ivy made a dramatic turn in Rogel’s life. This experience has deeply impacted his spiritual journey. Together with Ivy, he has since been an active member of the KFI-ME Ministry, Inc. organization in its evangelization mission. He has assumed leadership positions in the Marriage Encounter (ME) Ministry Board and the Council of Elders and has shepherded ME Classes.
Rogel grew up in a Catholic environment in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines. He was fortunate to get a science scholarship in college and graduated with a BS Chemical Engineering degree at the University of the Philippines in 1982. He has worked in a number of food, chemical, and petrochemical companies in various capacities in the Philippines and in the US. He retired from work early so he could focus more on his family and be more involved in his religious and service and charitable organizations which, to him, have added much more meaning and joy in his life.
